To replace a lock, you will need:

  • – SLB Security Lock
  • – Power drill
  • – Flat head screwdriver
  • – 4mm drill bit
  • – 12mm socket
  • – 22mm spanner

The steps to changing a lock

Step 1: Using the 4mm drill bit and power drill, start to drill into the centre of the mailbox lock. Apply steady and consistent pressure and try to reach a depth of around 16mm.
Keep drilling the lock for approximately 1-2 minutes until you will start to feel the mailbox lock work loose as you drill. The front door may release by itself – if it doesn’t, use a flat head screwdriver to turn the lock anti-clockwise which will release the door.
Step 2: Loosen the nut at the rear of the lock using a 12mm socket. Once the nut has been removed, you will also be able to remove the ‘CAM Arm’ – keep the CAM Arm safe!
Step 3: Remove the locking ring using the 22mm spanner.
Step 4: Pop the lock out of the front of the mailbox.
Step 5: Place the new lock into the lock hole from the front of the mailbox. Add the locking ring and tighten.
Step 6: Add the CAM Arm to the lock. Set the CAM Arm to a horizontal position pointing outside of the mailbox.
Step 7: Tighten the nut on the rear of the mailbox lock.
step 8: Put the keys in the lock and close the door.
