This is no mean feat – all have been fully tested in extreme conditions at Warrington Fire Research Laboratory; this test includes our products being recessed within a wall backed into a furnace reaching temperatures more than 1030 degrees C.
They need to withhold their integrity and therefore not distort, not release any gaps, ignite nor spread a flame.
We can safely say that they are all able to contain or hold back a fire for 2 hours and are tested in accordance to BS EN 1363-1 – 2020. They can be positioned on a wall, in a wall, through a wall or located freestanding, in accordance with installation guidance.
Alison Orrells, CEO and MD of The Safety Letterbox Company said;
“This is another very important result for SLB and the market, providing the maximum fire protection, if required, on any development. Following much investment and product development we have a range of both mailboxes and now intelligent parcelboxes to satisfy any site location arrangement, all with absolute reassurance that full testing has been done and our manufacturing is strictly in accordance with such rigorous testing in ISO9001 conditions. I am incredibly proud of our team who work so skilfully to create ingenuity in the world of mail and parcel delivery.”
The first fire rated mailboxes were developed by SLB in 2002, since then we have developed and expanded the range to ensure the market had the products it needs to be future proofed.
