Capital Quarter, Cardiff

The Capital Quarter project is a mixed-use development located in the heart of Cardiff City centre with outline planning for over 1,025,000 square feet of development which includes a range of offices, hotels, student housing and facilities for educational uses.

The Safety Letterbox Company worked with the developers on this project to supply numerous banks of mailboxes to securely store the mail deliveries for the student residents. The banks of mailboxes are all located in a single ‘mail room’ which is a central place for the residents to quickly visit as they pass through the area on the way back to their private accommodation.

The banks of mailboxes use the H1 post box, a horizontal product which is perfect for projects requiring a large amount of mailboxes in a relatively small installation area. The mailboxes have been configured into banks of 10 high in the vertical plane, with the width of the bank varying depending on the wall size there are located in.

The mailboxes recessed into the wall, a popular solution in projects which are looking to maximise the amount of space in the location. Each bank has been configured into smaller banks in The Safety Letterbox Company prior to despatch allowing for simple handling of the products. Once on site, the mailboxes are then joined together using supplied fixings and installed in to the wall. Every bank of mailboxes are also supplied with a surround trim providing a high-quality finish around the mailboxes to the finished wall.
