Our standard range of over 130 mailboxes can be fitted with an effective fire protection accessory – the FireTrace. The FireTrace is a small but effective fire extinguisher that is popular in projects where risk of arson attacks into mailboxes is considered high.
The fire extinguisher – ‘FireTrace’ is an unobtrusive tube which punctures at the hottest point releasing the contained gas directly into the source of the fire.
The FireTrace is a single use item that has to be replaced once used and is available in multiple different sizes to suit the volume capacity of each individual mailbox. If you require a replacement FireTrace for your mailbox, please contact us and we will be able to advise.
Please note: The image shown at the top of this page shows the Fire Rated 2 mailboxes from Wembley Fire Rated project that used the FireTrace item.
How does the FireTrace work?
In the event of a fire being started in a mailbox, the heat generated softens the tube which punctures the item at the hottest point (approximately 80º). The gas contained in the tub is releasing into the seat of the fire extinguishing the fire at the source.
How many times can a single FireTrace be used?
The FireTrace is a single-use item. Once a fire has punctured the tube and the gas is released, a replacement item is required to be fitted.
Where can I find out more about the FireTrace?
More information about the FireTrace product can be found on their website – www.firetrace.co.uk
What type of mailbox can the FireTrace be used with?
The FireTrace can be used across our entire range of mailboxes, but the most suitable type of product would be a postbox from our Fire Rated Post Box range.
How is the FireTrace fitted to a mailbox?
The FireTrace is fitted internally on a mailbox using fixing clips. This is done prior to leaving our UK based manufacturing unit ensuring all mailboxes require minimum installation time to get up and running,
