The Project

Clayworks Apartments, situated in Acton, London, is part of Imperial College’s accommodation network. Located less than five minutes from North Acton underground station, Clayworks offers a mix of Build to Rent, Key Worker, and Student Accommodation. The complex features 85 fully furnished studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments for rent. Among these, 35 studio apartments are dedicated to Imperial staff and other key workers at affordable rates. The remaining apartments are available for private rental.

Imperial College Investment Property Office enlisted SLB to install a state-of-the-art smart parcel delivery system. This system is designed to enhance the living experience for residents at Clayworks Apartments.

The Challenge

Our brief for Imperial College was straightforward yet multifaceted. We needed to design a smart parcel delivery system to streamline the delivery process. Importantly, it had to ensure safety by mitigating fire risks from parcels in the reception area. Additionally, the system needed to enhance security by minimising theft risk. It also had to provide residents with 24-hour parcel access, offering maximum convenience and efficiency.

Moreover, a crucial aspect was integrating the secure parcel delivery system with a custom mural. The mural, commissioned by artist David Samuel, adorned the exterior wall. This requirement demanded a solution that was not only functional but also aesthetically compatible. Thus, it had to align with the artistic vision of the developers and designers.

Our Solution

Firstly, myRENZbox was chosen for its advanced features and robust design. These attributes offer unparalleled security, convenience, and flexibility. Its modular construction allows for various configurations to suit different space requirements and parcel volumes. Additionally, myRENZbox is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, providing secure 24/7 parcel access. This significantly reduces theft risk and ensures a streamlined delivery process.

Moreover, we worked closely with artist David Samuel to adapt his mural into a cohesive design that extends onto the myRENZbox unit. This involved the creative challenge of transforming a 2D mural on the wall into a 3D design on the parcel boxes. Consequently, we ensured the aesthetic integrity of the artwork while integrating the functional elements of the delivery system.

Furthermore, to ensure residents were comfortable and familiar with the new system, we conducted comprehensive onboarding sessions. These sessions included detailed demonstrations and user guides to facilitate easy adoption. Additionally, our team provides ongoing support to both the client and residents. This support ensures smooth operation and continued satisfaction with the myRENZbox system. Our commitment to support ensures that any issues are promptly addressed, allowing users to fully benefit from the enhanced convenience and security of the smart parcel delivery solution.
